Delete your SafeCircle account and data

SafeCircle is operated by Safe Circle ApS (CVR 46438302), Bredager 22, 2670 Greve, Denmark.

If you have a subscription, cancel it first

Your SafeCircle subscription is billed by Apple or Google, not by us. We can delete everything we hold about you, but we cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf, and deleting your account does not stop it from renewing. Cancel it first:

  • iPhone / iPad: Settings β†’ tap your name β†’ Subscriptions β†’ SafeCircle β†’ Cancel Subscription.
  • Android: Google Play β†’ profile icon β†’ Payments & subscriptions β†’ Subscriptions β†’ SafeCircle β†’ Cancel subscription.

After cancellation you keep access for the period you have already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple and Google, not by us β€” request one through the store you purchased from.

How to delete your account

In the app (fastest): open SafeCircle β†’ Settings β†’ Delete account, and type the confirmation word. Deletion takes effect immediately.

By email: write to privacy@safecircle.dk with enough information to identify your account. We process verified requests within 30 days.

What is deleted

  • Your profile (name, photo, phone number, contact email, PIN, and location).
  • Your alarms and their location history, and your Safe Walk Home trips.
  • Your video and audio recordings from alarms.
  • Your helper responses, saved emergency contacts, friend connections, push tokens, and conversation memberships.
  • Our record of your subscription status.

The text of messages you have sent in chat is replaced with "[deleted user]" so that other participants' conversations remain readable. Those messages can no longer be attributed to you.

Recordings are encrypted and only your own device holds the key. When the stored file is removed, the content is therefore gone for good β€” it cannot be recovered, not even by us.

What is retained, and why

If your account has been blocked for fraud or abuse, we retain one pseudonymous identifier (your MitID "sub" β€” not your name and not your national ID number) on our exclusion list to prevent circumvention. The legal basis is Article 17(3)(b) of the GDPR.

One record that deletion occurred is kept for up to 7 years as documentation that we have complied with your request. It contains the timestamp and a count of files removed. The link to your user ID is severed when your account is deleted, so the record no longer identifies you.

If someone has reported one of your messages, the report and the copy of the message captured at the time of the report are kept as documentation of our handling β€” with no connection to your deleted account.

Accounting records relating to your subscription are kept for 7 years because section 10 of the Danish Bookkeeping Act (bogfΓΈringsloven) requires it. We never see or store your card details β€” Apple and Google process the payment and only inform us that a subscription has started, renewed, or ended.
